What's so special about the beer in Brisbane?
Nothing beats the satisfaction of sinking a cold one on a stinking-hot day. We should know - Queenslanders contribute to over 35% of beer sales in Australia!
Yet, Brisbane has come a long way since opening the Castlemaine Brewery (now known as XXXX) back in 1878.
Forget buying a 6-pack from the local bottle-o, because Brisbane is bountiful in independent Brewpubs; producing beer with innovation, quality and variety at the forefront.
These award-winning establishments not only offer their frothy beverages on rotation; they are popular local hangouts with trendy beer gardens, tasty food trucks, trivia nights and more.
If you are bonkers about beer, you may notice a few local favourites missing off the list below.
That's because our list only includes independent Brewpubs (we love to support local!) close to Brisbane City - there are many more amazing Brisbane Microbreweries further afield.

Microbrewery, Brewpub, Craft Brewery...What's that?
A Microbrewery, Brewpub or Craft Brewery is an establishment that produces limited quantities of beer, typically brewed on-site. So you know it's the good stuff!
