Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA)


Centrally located on the river in Brisbane's Cultural Precinct; QAGOMA is a leading institution of modern and contemporary art.


The two huge adjacent buildings hold over 18,500 works with regular kids activities at their Children's Art Centre and moving image screenings at their Australian Cinémathèque. With cafes, restaurants and an epic gift shop, you could easily spend the entire day here!


A major event not to be missed is QAGOMA's Asia Pacific Triennial (APT). Every three years APT takes over the entire site showcasing the contemporary works of over 1,000 artists from the Asia Pacific region.

Museum of Brisbane (Mob)


Located at Brisbane's historic City Hall, Museum of Brisbane brings the city’s vibrant art, culture and history to life through exhibitions, events, workshops, tours, and MoB Kids activities.


Whilst there, be sure to book in a free Clock Tower Tour where you can travel to the top of City Hall and see the inner workings of the clock up close.

As MoB is centrally located in Brisbane's CBD, it is the perfect opportunity to add some retail therapy to your day. A short stroll away is Brisbane's major shopping centres: QueensPlaza, Uptown (previously Myer Centre), Wintergarden and Brisbane Arcade.

Metro Arts (MA)


Hidden away in West End's trendiest new addition, West Village (once Peters Ice Cream Factory), is Metro Arts. The gallery and theatre aims to champion all contemporary art forms, and the creation of thought-provoking and exhilarating art.

William Robinson Gallery


Situated on QUT's Gardens Point Campus in the historic Old Government House, the William Robinson Gallery celebrates the life and work of contemporary Australian artist, William Robinson.


The artist is renowned for his striking compositions of South East Queensland rainforests and seascapes of northern New South Wales.


It is hard to ignore the elegance of Old Government House so don't miss out on a free guided tour to find out more about who lived there and what historic gatherings took place.

In close proximity to Old Government House is Brisbane City Botanic Gardens. Enjoy a scenic walk and discover bamboo groves, ornamental ponds and public sculptures.


Don't miss 'Botanica: Contemporary Art Outside'. The festival runs at the Botanic Gardens in May each year with unexpected installations and interactive artworks.

QUT Art Museum


QUT Art Museum is the sister gallery of William Robinson Gallery at QUT's Gardens Point Campus. The Museum offers a diverse range of exhibitions drawn from the university's extensive art collection, as well as commissioned art projects and touring exhibitions.

Institute of Modern Art (IMA)


Since 1975 the Institute of Modern Art (IMA) has been presenting an annual program of exhibitions and offsite programs by Queensland, Australian, and international artists.


Based in the heart of Fortitude Valley on Brunswick Street, the IMA shares space with the Judith Wright Arts Centre which presents original contemporary performance works, including cabaret, circus, dance, music, spoken word and multi-disciplinary arts.

Situated in one of Australia’s oldest art schools, Griffith University Art Museum is committed to innovation and experimentation. The exhibitions hope to encourage and help visitors better understand art and its role in society.

Just behind GUAM is the South Bank Parklands. This is a great spot to go for a walk along the river and soak in the City views. Some of the parkland highlights are rainforest walks, playgrounds, water features, a man-made beach and incredible eating options.

UQ Art Museum


Based on the University of Queensland's St. Lucia campus, UQ Art Museum aims to connect each visitor with new ideas in creative practice. They are also the home of The University of Queensland Art Collection, one of Queensland’s most significant public art collections.


The Museum's big wow factor is its forever-changing artwork installations displayed on the large glass facade of the building. On your way in, don't miss UQ's resident smiling tombstone - it's friendlier than you think!
